I am Wilson | Paige Chesson

What is your role at WMC?
I am currently working as the Quality Manager for Wilson Physician Services.

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I was inspired to get into healthcare ultimately because I knew I wanted the flexibility, growth opportunities and ability to give back.  Looking back, I certainly have been able to take advantage of these qualities that a career in nursing can offer.

What is a typical day like for you?
No two days are ever the same which is amazing! My day may consist of any combination of the following: calling patients after they have been discharged from the hospital, helping patients make appointments to get their preventative screenings scheduled, auditing charts to see which patients may need follow up care, assisting with our staff & provider’s computer/technical needs, collaborating with other leaders, and often helping connect friends and families with the right provider for their urgent healthcare needs.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have been here for 10.5 years. I started as a nurse in ICU, then various roles in leadership from managing nurses in the float pool and medical surgical units, to more recently employees in our employed practices.

What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
I love to stay busy & involved in our community! I participate in a few of the local non-profit organizations, my children's school and attend community events. My favorite spot in Wilson would be downtown.  I have watched it completely turn around, and my family and I can always find something to entertain us when we have down time.

What do you like most about working at WMC?
I love coming to work helping directly or indirectly take care of people in our community.  It is truly a priceless feeling knowing that I may have made the slightest difference in someone’s day who resides right here Wilson.
