Duke Health Affiliate in Cancer
Wilson Medical Center is a Duke Health Affiliate in cancer. This relationship gives us access to the most current training and staff education when it comes to cancer and cancer-related health issues. We also have access to the latest Duke Cancer Institute guidelines and research. As the relationship progresses, our goal is to further enhance our service offerings to keep our patients here in the community, close to family and friends, to receive services such as clinical trials.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer patients in our community the benefits that come with being part of the esteemed Duke Cancer Institute. With this new relationship, we foresee innumerable benefits for clinicians as well as the citizens of the greater Wilson area. Educational programs and outreach through community events is an important part of the collaboration. As physicians, we will be able to expand our collaborative efforts with our colleagues from Duke through shared patients, clinical conferences, and professional development opportunities. Having access to these resources will be invaluable in maintaining the excellent quality of care in our community. –– Dr. Peggy Metts, Medical Director, Wilson Medical Center Radiation Oncology and chair of Wilson Medical Center Cancer Committee
“As a Wilson native, I am very excited to work with the Wilson Medical Center team to enhance their cancer program to include access to cutting-edge clinical research. One of the goals of the new collaboration is to keep patients in the community, close to family and friends, while receiving quality, comprehensive cancer care—something I think the people of Wilson will appreciate.” –– Lynda Owen, PhD, CCRP, Associate Director, Research Program Development and Education, Duke Cancer Network.
We are fully accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a program of the American College of Surgeons. This accreditation indicates our cancer program's commitment to providing high-quality, multidisciplinary, patient-centered cancer care.
