I am Wilson | Susan Hoover

What is your role at WMC?
I am the Director of Surgical Services that oversees the OR, PACU, Same Day Surgery, Endoscopy, Infusion, and Central Sterile departments. 

What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare? 
I was a very sick patient in third grade and was in the local hospital for more than two weeks. I was then transferred to Cleveland Clinic. It was during that time that I had such a strong desire to be a nurse. 

I felt God kept blessing that experience and giving me direction. 

What is a typical day like for you? 
I round and follow up with the needs that are presented daily to my departments and the patients we serve. It is never quiet. I have to be able to keep many plates spinning and then remember the plates on the back that need to be res-pun, too. 

How long have you been employed here? 
Since October 2022 

Have you always been in the same position? 
Yes, while at WMC 

What are some of your interests outside of work? 
Walking, exploring and meeting new people. I like bike riding, too. 

What do you like most about working at WMC? 
The people! The staff in these departments are the kindest people I have worked for. 

They are very understanding and non judgmental. Many will ask me every time I see them, “How are you doing today?” I treasure them!
