What is your role at WMC?
I work on the telemetry floor as an LPN.What was your inspiration for getting into healthcare?
I always enjoyed taking care of others even when I was younger. I believe what really gave me the push I needed was when my dad fell 20 feet when I was in high school. He had broken both of his legs and was in a wheelchair for a few weeks and needed weeks of rehab to get better and I helped my mom to nurse him back to health. What is a typical day like for you?
Our days on telemetry are never the same. You will typically see me running up and down the hallways with my computer and a redbull in my hand. Our patients tend to not stay many days with us so the turn over can be very fast. The extra caffeine is definitely needed! How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position?
I have worked here for the last 5 years. I started at the nursing home as a CNA 1. From the nursing home I moved into the hospital to 2East which is the mother baby floor. While I was on 2East I was floated throughout the hospital on the days we didn't have many patients. I was able to gain so much more experience due to this! The world of nursing continued to grow right in front of my eyes. I floated to the medical surgical floor, the Emergency room, the behavioral health floor and even to the cardiac cath department. I prayed for a way to do more for the patients I was caring for and my prayers were answered when I heard about the ICU. From 2East I went to the ICU and I was terrified!! I was so afraid because I went from mothers and babies to adults that were just so sick and on the ventilator. I learned great things from working in the ICU. From there I continued my education and got my CNA 2 and went on to get my LPN that I graduated with in 2023. Once I became a nurse, I moved to the telemetry floor where I still work. What are some of your interests outside of work? What is your favorite local gem?
When I have some time off you'll find me playing with my chickens and duck in the yard or at the dog park with my dog Riley. My favorite local gem would have to be a mexican restaurant called Porfirios! They have the best food. What do you like most about working at WMC?
I love being able to serve the community in which I live. We have many patients that have been coming here for many years now and it's always nice for them to see a familiar face in their time of need. Our patients become part of our family and I love being able to care for them.
