Wilson Medical Center Welcomes Ryan Mitchell, M.D.

Wilson Medical Center is pleased to welcome Ryan Mitchell, M.D., to its medical staff. Dr. Mitchell is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and joins Lawrence Yenni, M.D., John Wechter, M.D., and Christian Selby, PA-C, at Wilson Regional Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Mitchell specializes in sports medicine, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability surgery, ACL reconstruction, fracture surgery, shoulder and knee replacement surgery and general orthopedic surgery. He joins Wilson Medical Center from Knoxville, TN, where he had a wide range of experience in treating patients of all ages – including young athletes, active adults and seniors.

Dr. Mitchell received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, AL, where he graduated with honors. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Alabama Health System in Mobile. Dr. Mitchell continued his professional training with a sports medicine fellowship at Sports Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medicine (SOAR) in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Mitchell is a former collegiate baseball player and he looks forward to being involved in the athletic community here in Wilson. His sports medicine experience includes team coverage of high school and college sports, including football and professional baseball.

He and his wife Megan have two sons ages 2 and 4. Dr. Mitchell enjoys spending time with his family, lifting weights and watching University of Alabama athletics. He also loves all things baseball.
