Scott Edwards Named Chief Operating Officer at Wilson Medical Center

Wilson Medical Center CEO Mark Holyoak is pleased to announce that William “Scott” Edwards has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the Duke LifePoint hospital, effective July 12, 2021.
“I am excited for the skills, experience and enthusiasm that Scott will bring to Wilson Medical Center,” Holyoak says. “I’m confident that his extensive clinical and leadership accomplishments will provide great value to our hospital and our community.”
Edwards has spent the last 27 years in healthcare, beginning his career as a radiologic technologist in 1993. This past year, he has been the COO at Scott Memorial Health, a Lifepoint Health facility in Scottsburg, Indiana. His experience includes operational improvements, fiscal management and budget development, outpatient growth enhancements, leadership development, management of multiple construction/renovation projects, physician relations and quality and patient satisfaction improvements.
Prior to his time at Scott Memorial Health, he served two years as Associate Administrator at North Alabama Medical Center and seven years as System Director of Radiology, Outpatient Cardiology and Inpatient Dialysis Services at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, both located in Florence, Alabama.
Edwards has an extensive background in radiology; he received a radiologic technology certificate from East Alabama Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology and an Associate in Applied Science in Radiography from Southern Union State Community College. He went on to study Biology/Pre-Med at Columbus State University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Faulkner University, where he graduated with high honors. Edwards also holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management from Columbia Southern University, where he also graduated with honored.
Edwards and his wife Tracy have two daughters, Taylor (28) and Tiffany (24). In his free time, he enjoys kayaking, hiking, carpentry, and spending time with his family.
