Wilson Medical Center Names 2021 Mercy Award Winner

May 20, 2021

Wilson Medical Center recently announced that Caitlin Webb has been recognized as the hospital’s 2021 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

“At Wilson Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Mark Holyoak, CEO of Wilson Medical Center “We are extremely proud to recognize Caitlin for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”

Caitlin is a registered nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab. In 2013, she began as a nursing assistant in the Emergency Department while attending nursing school at Wilson Community College. Once she graduated, Caitlin began working as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit.

Caitlin participates on several hospital committees including Employee of the Month, Resiliency, Patient Safety and Experience (PSET) and Harms. She also volunteers with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event and has served on the hospital’s internal committee.

A Wilson native, Caitlin values her community and finds ways to give back to others even outside of the four walls of the hospital. Through her small business, she has supported 75 local nursing home residents with goodie bags to bring encouragement to those who have been isolated from their loved ones due to the pandemic. She also contributed these encouragement bags to local dentist offices and veterinarian staff in the community.

Each hospital winner, including Caitlin, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2021 company wide Mercy Award. The company wide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Caitlin and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
