Wilson Physician Services offers primary care close to home
May 30, 2019I think it’s safe to say that the month of May has turned into one of the busiest months of the year – especially for parents and teachers who are winding down the school year. With the hustle and bustle of the end-of-the-school-year activities, oftentimes women are so busy taking care of everyone else that they forget to take care of themselves.
Besides the end of the school year, this month we also celebrate Women’s Health Month which is a great time to evaluate our well-being and determine what we need to do to make sure we are on the right track. A great way to do that is to establish a relationship with a primary care provider, if you haven’t already done so. A primary care provider can provide preventative care, manage existing chronic or acute conditions and also refer you to a specialist if needed.
Wilson Physician Services has a wide array of services that can ensure you have access to primary care and specialists, right here in Wilson. Our medical group includes primary care, orthopedics, neurology, endocrinology and gastroenterology.
We are very excited about the recent addition of two new family nurse practitioners who are helping us improve the Wilson community’s access to primary care. Catherine Melin is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who joined Wilson New Hope Primary Care in February. She specializes in general health, preventative care, diabetes, weight management, smoking cessation, blood pressure management, cholesterol management and thyroid management.
Chasity Godwin is also a certified nurse practitioner who started practicing at Wilson Internal Medicine Associates in April. Chasity offers walk-in sick visits and specializes in preventative care, annual physicals, management of acute care and chronic illness and women’s health services. The office accepts patients as early as 7:30 a.m. Additionally, Wilson New Hope Primary Care and Wilson Internal Medicine Associates are open until 5 p.m. on Friday afternoons.
So, as you dive right into the summer checklist, make your health a priority and put it on the top of that list. Even if you feel healthy and aren’t experiencing any issues, creating a relationship with your primary care provider can help keep you well by education and preventative care.
