At the heart of the matter.
Our Cardiovascular Services department provides electrical mechanical diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the heart as well as diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease.
In May 2016, we received Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC). Hospitals that have received SCPC accreditation have achieved a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack. Cardiac Cath Lab
We have performed diagnostic cardiac catheterizations in our cardiac cath lab since 1989. In 2004, with the help of our physician partners, we began to offer pacemaker and implantable cardiac defibrillator implants. In 2010, our cath lab began to offer percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) procedures which is the ability to balloon and stent the coronary arteries. Before the implentation of the PCI procedures, our cath lab equipment was updated to the latest technology.
Other diagnostic services we provide:
- Treadmill Stress Testing
- Rest & Stress Echocardiography
- Transesophageal Echocardiography
- Holter Monitors
- Event Monitors
Cardiology Services received a three-year accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) in October 2012. It includes adult transthoracic echocardiography, adult transesophageal echocardiography and adult stress echocardiography.
The hospital offers diagnostic and follow-up heart care for pediatric patients. The clinic is led by Dennis Steed, M.D., of ECU Physicians.
